Atoms. Crystals. Phase changes.

Noeo Chemistry 1 guides your child through an exciting first exploration of the world of chemistry. We’ve packed your Noeo box with all the books, lesson plans, and experiments you need to turn your home into a science lab on day 1.

Comprehensive course of study

Chemistry 1 starts with the basics of the atom and builds step-by-step to more complex material like chemical reactions. By the end, your kid will have a solid grounding in chemistry for deeper scientific study.

Everything in one box

Experiment kits and built-in lesson plans mean you can start exploring the atom and creating chemical reactions as soon as you open the box. Skip the Ready, Set, move straight to the Go!

Living books

Chemistry isn’t just about atoms and reactions—it’s about bubbles and fertilizer and Marie Curie and salad dressing. We’ve selected every book in Chemistry 1 to make the world come alive.

Hands-on experiments

Every week your kids will get their hands dirty in the real world by brewing oobleck, making fossils, putting eggs in acid baths, and more. And with easy-to-follow lab manuals, your kids can do detailed experiments practically on their own—while you get a jumpstart on dinner.

Looks good

I can’t review this because I sent it to my grandson at his mother’s request so I don’t have first hand experience. My grandson was very excited to receive it.

Amazing

Although we won’t use this curriculum until Fall- after using the Biology 1 this year and seeing the items included in Chemistry 1, I’m very impressed and excited to use this material!

Disappointed

It has lots of materials organized so you can do any order. Many home materials are not everyone’s typical lol so having to go shopping for many things

Easy to use and fun

This has integrated excellently with our other homeschool curriculum. My multi-aged children all have access points for the material and the experiments are fun and easier to do than cooking dinner! Great program

Really great curriculum

I do this program with my 3rd grader and my 3 year old joins in most experiments. I love the variety of topics covered and that there are almost always practical application experiments to go along with the concepts. There are times where the experiment doesn't work, but we talk about thoughts on why it didn't work. Other times the experiment doesn't have a connection, so I sometimes skip those. However, overall the experiments really drive home the topic. The Chemistry l package is meant for grades 1-3 so it can seem a bit easy, BUT the kids really are learning a ton. I don't think they need to be challenged to their full potential on everything, it's ok to just learn too.
One thing I would really like to see change in future editions is the three books. There has got to be a way to at least consolidate the student book with the experiments. There doesn't need to be so many blank pages and duplicate information between the experiment book and the teacher book. There should only be a reference in the teacher book for the corresponding page number in the experiments, not another run down of it. I find using three books together to be a bit annoying. There is needed information between all of them and it just feels unorganized even though it is. But again, overall this curriculum is seriously the best!

Chemistry 1

This is our first year homeschooling and our first grade daughter loves this program. The program is laid out well and easy to follow. She is excited dive into the lessons every day. We have found the pace a tad slower than expected so we have adapted it to our schedule and it seems to be working. The book selection is great which makes the lessons really easy. So far she has enjoyed the experiments and has even repeated the first two with friends.

Ready to go

I love that this is an all in one kit even with the supplies aside from some common household goods. My son enjoys it and little brother enjoys listening in on the books as well as participating on the experiments. My one gripe is the instead of 3 different manuals/books it could somehow be condensed to 2.

Good selection of books

Overall I like this program. I am using it with my 2nd/4th grader and was torn between the chemistry 1 and 2, but didn't want to miss anything presented in level 1. We have found the pace to be too slow in some areas (too short of a reading and not deep enough follow up questions or discussion prompts) and most of the experiments to be too short or silly. Would have really liked the experiment part to be more substantial. I also don't like how the schedule is not consistent, with some weeks having the experiment suggested on different days, some weeks have less readings and more experiments, etc. I need to keep experiment days separate from reading/lesson days on my schedule and I ended up having to tweak a lot to fit a consistent schedule rather than just open and go each week. The kids really like the books we are reading and I can tell they are interested in the subject and gaining a lot of knowledge.

meh

The experiments don't work, the lessons aren't in depth enough and trying to keep track of what we are doing throughout the 3 main books is too confusing. My kids like the story books though.

Hi Andrea! We have listened to our customers and updated our curriculum. Thank you for the feedback!

Well-structured and a lot of fun!

My kids and I love the ease of Noeo Science. Every lesson is planned out for us and is never cumbersome to follow. We all really enjoy the book selections. I personally like that a couple of optional experiments or activities are thrown in the week in case the kids want to take a topic further, and the weekly main experiments have been a hit. We’ve found a winner in homeschool science!

Chemistry I

Our family first did the biology course. Overall, my kids liked it so we decided to try out the chemistry. They like this one even more! There are frequent experiments and the experiments are very hands on which really piques my children's interest and curiosity. Some books could use a little more explanation (e.g. elements) but, overall a VERY good course. Would definitely recommend this to others looking to give younger kids a good foundation and catching their interest early on in science.

Absolutely wonderful

This curriculum is full of exciting books and incredible content. Some of the concepts I wasn't taught until highschool but my son is understanding and retaining it all so well! It's all written in such a way as to be really accessible and engaging. The experiments are fun and interesting. I will definitely be getting their other courses.

Chem 1

I purchased the newly revised chemistry 1 for my next school year with my rising K, 2nd and 4th grader. I've flipped through the entirety of the 3 new manuals/workbooks and they're vastly improved from years past. The living books look fantastic and the science kit has higher quality than the previous year when I purchased physics 1 and are thoughtfully packaged. I recommend Noeo all the time! We're a young earth creationist family and enjoy all the books and talk through any areas that allude to billions/millions of years as we need to as we go -- but they're few and far between in the living books. I really appreciate Noeo's customer service and attention to detail and quality through all the manuals and book choices. For us, experiments and activities are absolutely a must -- the more the better! So thank you Noeo for adding double the experiments/activities. That's a huge part of why I purchased -- that and how open and go (and simple) the schedule is! I know going through chemistry next year is going to be a favorite part of our week!

best science curriculum

I taught Chem I to by 3 kids (1st, 2nd, and 4th). They loved the books and experiments and were really able to understand what was being taught. This is by far the best science curriculum I've found and we will continue with Noeo science next year. My one criticism is that it wasn't as balanced as I'd like - with one or two weeks of all writing/now taking and then 3 weeks of all experiments. However, we understood that we needed to learn the subject before the hands-on part would make sense. Overall, I'm thrilled with the curriculum.

Highly Recommend

I'm 3/4 of the way through Chemistry 1 with my seven year old second grader, and really love this curriculum. I think the lay out is perfect for kids this age. Instead of a boring text book, it uses fun living books and lots of hands on activities and experiments, all without being too burdensome. The reason I'm not giving this 5 stars is because a number of the Young Scientist kits didn't work, and also because I think they're still working out the kinks with the guide books. The oobleck flopped and the fizzy tablet didn't fizz. The spring scale we built, while it did sort of work, was long and tedious and not really worth it. I hope to see in the future the combination of the instructors guide and the experiment guide. I really don't see why those need to be separate. As a homeschool mom, consolidation is always easier, as long as it doesn't lose clarity. All in all, I still recommend, we've learned a ton and my son is loving it.

Kids love it but...

My kids absolutely love this curricula. They beg me to do science every day! It takes us 30 minutes or less with my 3rd and 1st grader. The content is perfect for their age. However we were progressing onto week 8 and we were supposed to read from the book "the elements" but we received the wrong book in our book pack. It's a beautiful copy of actual pictures of the elements with information about each element, but it doesn't have the information we are supposed to study in it, so I'll have to buy a separate copy from amazon. So we have to put science on hold for 2 weeks while we wait for a copy of the correct book to arrive. I'm checking my library for the book, but I'll still have to purchase it separately for future use with my younger kids, which is kind of a bummer. Other than the mixed up book, I love this curricula. I wish they had high school levels for my oldest!

Awesome science kit

I love that the kit came with everything we need and that each lesson is simple, straight forward and easy to complete. I like to read the week ahead just so I know what is to come, but it is very open and go so far! Doing it with my kindergartener and 2nd grader together with ease.
